Types of Impotence

There is no fixed, defined group of men who will suffer from impotence or erectile dysfunction. Many men will suffer from some form of impotence throughout their life. In the UK around two and a half million men suffer from impotence, so that equates to roughly one in ten. There will me many more people who suffer from impotence who are not known about as it can be an embarrassing issue to raise with doctors or family. The incidence of impotence or erectile dysfunction raises with age, but that does not mean that they is not chance that a man in his early twenties will not be affected. In younger men who are not sexually confident, worrying about not being able to get and erection and perform sexually can cause impotence. As with many medical conditions that can be attributed to psychological problems the increased anxiety about potentially suffering from impotence can reduce the feelings of sexual arousal, making the situation worse and it can be come more of a problem.

The sufferers of impotence or erectile dysfunction can be spilt into 2 groups, the psychological and the physical sufferers. In the last couple of decades it was believed that impotence was caused by psychological issues, but now it has been proven that three quarters of sufferers of impotence have medical conditions that cause the impotence or erectile dysfunction.
